Dr. Stephan Cole Interview:

1.       1What is your social justice issue?
Amnesty International. Group found in 1961.
2.      2 How did you become involved in the social justice issue?
Became involved as an undergraduate in England because it was so expansive.
3.       3What were your feelings about the issue prior to your participation?
I believed in free speech, I believe everyone has the right to believe whatever they want.
4.      4 Why did you choose this issue to participate in?
The Amnesty International program was becoming really big; it was a movement that was across borders. Deals with human trafficking cases as well.
5.       5How did you help?
I helped by recruiting campaigns, letter writing campaigns to the government, which actually is very effective.
6.       6What did you learn from this experience?
I learned never to give up; you need to be committed to change. Change doesn’t come quickly. There is no end to it. Regime is always somewhere. There is always and will be a need for amnesty.
7.       7Will you continue to participate?
Still continues and supports financially, whenever possible. Still writes letters currently.
